I think having it as a community thing is a nice idea especially since more people use discord it could become popular
We are debating on making a transition to Discord, while I personally don't like discord for a multitude of reasons, It could help bring the Virtual-Advantage community closer.
In this thread, I will set up a poll, at the end of this week I'd like to see what the votes are and we can make a decision then. Until then, I'm going to list a couple pros and cons of using discord.
NOTE: Discord will NOT be a replacement to our forum, ONLY TEAMSPEAK!
Pros
- A more intuitive system for communicating with our userbase and staff alike.
- Simple to download, easy to use. No need for a setup like TeamSpeak with the use of IP's, etc.
- Discords multi-server functionality allows users to stay in our Discord for however long they like, talk with us, hang out, ask questions, etc without having to leave the program open 24/7 as opposed to TeamSpeak.
- Allows users to find friends easily, as we are all connected, and it doesn't require PM'ing like on the forum, or waiting around in TeamSpeak for someone to join.
- A bit more organized than TeamSpeak, were we can post notifications/announcements in real time and get them to our userbase faster than a forum or TeamSpeak.
- Discord is free, and has a more reliable connection, opposed to having to pay for a dedicated box/domain for our TeamSpeak, and with risk of our TeamSpeak disconnecting for maintenance.
- Discord offers more intuitive bots, easy to setup and easy to use.
Cons
- No where near as secure as TeamSpeak, and has a lot of exploits.
- No voice ecryption
- No server passwording
- Permission system is absolute garbage
- Discord isn't created for commercial use, therefore supporting customers using Discord could be a bit more tedious and difficult.
- Easier for Anti-Cheats to spy on realtime conversations.
- Cannot reliable prevent misuse, abuse, or spam like we can on TeamSpeak
- Garbage audio quality

I agree with Harambe that it would be the best way to get a community rolling again.
And looking at the Cons; I would say keep the discord for the community and Teamspeak for support.
I would agree with the previous answers: Discord for the community and teamspeak for support. A lot of people I know have switched from teamspeak to discord because they found it easier to use and chat with friends, so Discord could be a nice alternative for people.
