Should I buy the subscription now or should I wait til after the new update? Or will the update even affect the cheats?

You can buy whenever, our coder is aware of the update coming and the cheat will probably going down for just a few hours once it is out.

If the update breaks the cheat and the cheat has to go down, your subscription will be paused until it comes back up, so you will not lose any time.
